Son’s and tempers

– Pic isn’t my child but it gets the idea across I’ve brought up two daughters to the ages of 4 and 7. Its been difficult and we’ve had our difficulties and fights. I’ve made them mad and I’ve frustrated them but in the end I’m their daddy and they love me and can not stay mad for long. I also have  son. He is 15 months and there is some very real very strange difference. Read More...

Teaching Giving

As a man and father you have a responsibility to your children. Well alright you have many responsibilities but one that can easily be overlooked is the responsibility of giving back and teaching your kids to do the same. There are many ways both large and small to give back but I believe that it’s important to find a cause that is important to you and get involved. Holding Hands

The other night I was working in the office and all of the sudden I noticed this cute little blond almost four year old girl standing next to me. She had gotten up from bed and decided to wander down stairs. She was tired and needed to get back to sleep. I usually carry her or tell her to go back to her bed but this night I just held her hand and walked her back to her bedroom. It hit me that I don’t hold he Read More...

Haloween and Parenthood

Parenthood is a fairly new show on NBC, that my wife and I have taken to this season. We like the show for a number of reasons including the fact that they do an excellent job of portraying a family dealing with special needs. On the show one of the families has a child with Autism. They show some of the dynamics between the parents and how they deal with issues raising their child. This past episode they dealt w Read More...

I’m Still a Dad Blogger!

The lyrics below are adapted from the Brad Paisley song I’m still a guy. His lyrics are better but hey that doesn’t change the fact that I’m still a dad blogger.   When you see a dad blog you think Dads Suck And I see man kicking Ass When you see a SAHD you think looser And I see a dad working hard You’re probably thinking that you’re going to change me In some ways well mayb Read More...

What if the Hokey Pokey Really is What it’s All About?

The Doodle my second child is now in the three years old.  She is a sweet funny girl, who loves to laugh, dance, play and quite honestly strip. Luckily that is only in the house but it can some times get out of hand: At the beginning of the summer The Doodle was upstairs getting ready for a bath and I was sitting in our den talking to my brother-in-law. She comes bouncing into the room naked and proceeds to d Read More...

Dad Memories

I visited the town I grew up on this past weekend. It’s a small town in NEPA that North East PA. It’s funny how small and old things seem compared to when I was a child. I drove by my old house and I drove by my dad’s old office. It turns out my dad lives three blocks from where he practiced medicine for fifteen years before he sold his practice. He moved back to the area after fifteen years in the so Read More...

Please Excuse The Self Promotion

One of the reasons I was asked to join the Dad Revolution was because of my personal blog which is a focused study on the change taking place in Fatherhood. I hypothosized that dads are approaching fatherhood differently and then I set out to prove it with a comprehensive study that I call The DADvocate Project. The following post is summery of the project and I have asked any daddy blogger who wants to re-post it. Read More...

Family Decisions

There are many types of family decisions but over the past few weeks I’ve experienced a type of family decision that is rare, stressful, and yet one of the most important type of family decisions you can make. This past week my daughter had a very serious operation. It’s called an SDR (Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy). Since this article isn’t about educating you on an SDR you can learn more about the Read More...

Sounding off -The media’s perspective of Stay at home parents

Okay, I was just reading through an email I received from HAPO  – Help A Reporter Out.  The email lists numerous stories that reporters are writing and need some input on. It appears to be a great resource. Well today I ran across a story that someone was writing on moms who are leaving the work force to stay home with their children.  This is a great topic because there are a lot of families making the de Read More...

Not all revolutions are faught with guns

Hello, I am @TheDADvocate better known as Kevin. My story starts slightly differently from my fellow revolutionaries as it should. I started bloging on April 11, 2009 at  MySpellingSucks.com.
