We Remember, and We Thank You

As you all know, today is Veteran’s Day. Today we honor those who have bravely fought to defend our freedoms. Throughout history dads, moms, sons, daughters, friends, and neighbors have fought, and some have died, to defend the freedoms that we have today. They are soldiers and they are heroes. They are people who have showed bravery in the face of extreme danger and solidarity with the brothers and sisters they fought along side with. Some have won medals, some have gotten great recognition. Others have since retired from service, their stories known only to those they tell them to. With accomplishments great and small, service to their country and fellow citizens, they fought. Today we honor our veterans. We praise them for their heroism and bravery. We thank them for what they have done to keep this country the way it is.

Today I ask all of my fellow citizens to put aside their differences. Forget about the politics behind everything. Put down hateful words and thoughts. No matter what you think of the current state of things, think about this: Without these brave soldiers, we would not have the freedom to agree and disagree. We would not have the freedom to vote for change and to voice our opinion. Today I ask you to take the time to thank a veteran. Even if they are a complete stranger, take the time to thank them for their service to their country, and for the continued fight to keep this country great. Honor the memories of those who have given their lives so that we may live on. Remember those who paid the ultimate price for God and country. And never forget the memories of all who have fought. Heroes and Heroins indeed!

To All of Those Who Have Served:

You were strong and you were brave. You faced the odds with your head held high. You persevered through the greatest of struggles and you pressed on with dignity. You showed us what heroes are made of and what great people can do. You are the face of those who fought before, and the voice of those who no longer stand. Today we honor you. We honor those who are no longer with us. We thank you for your heroism, for your will to do what so many of us could not. We respect you for your honor and conviction. We praise you for your sacrifices and your strength in the face of adversity. We stand next to you in support of all you have done. We lift you up and honor your heart and your life. We love you for loving your country so much, that you were willing to give it all.

And to those still serving:

We offer our love and our best wishes to you. We stand with you, strong and determined. We thank you for the daily fight, the good works, and the strength you possess. We tip our hats to the men and women stationed all over the world. We owe you so much more than we can give. We celebrate our freedom with you in our thoughts. Thank you just doesn’t seem to say it all.

** In memory of all who have laid down their lives. To all who have fought with bravery, dignity, and honor, we salute you.**
