The tipping point of the balance of being a Dad

Becoming a father introduced dozen of new tasks in to my life.  I’ll admit that being a dad didn’t come to far after we got married. so I was still adjusting to living with my wife, when we quickly became living with my pregnant wife.  I quickly noticed how my life was completely not my own the day my son was born.  That was the moment that just hit me as I held him in my arms.  Now closing in on two years later I’ve figured out what works and what doesnt for a new born but of course my son is ready to start being a toddler and entering the terrible twos, so once again I must evolve.

Balance of that evolution is the tricky part – I have a 9-5 job, I then come home to  5-9 which is being a father to my son, followed by a 9-11 which is being a good husband completing tasks she’s ask me to complete or just sit on the couch talking about things we need to discuss and or watching TV. Finally from 11-2 I get to do my blogging and freelance work.

I wish there were more hours in a day because I rarely feel like I get “me” time but I know my wife who is the 9-5 care giving is feeling the same way.  The most important thing to us right now is the well being of our child. We are selfless in that act but that usually comes at the price of a little bit of sanity too.  Dont get me wrong the juggling act which is the life of the parent isnt easy and it surely doesnt slow down.

It is just another challenge and once you feel like you’ve got the hang of one, I’m sure the discussion will start to focus on having number two.  At this point I’m just trying to keep my head above water and keep moving forward.
